Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy
Equine facilitated psychotherapy, or EFP, is a specialized form of therapy where a human therapist partners with a horse or pony, to provide therapeutic growth, emotional support and healing. Clients often focus on: managing anxiety and/or depression, coping with past trauma and grief, improving communication skills and relationship development, boosting self-esteem and confidence, learning to establish and maintain healthy boundaries, and more.
EFP benefits the client by presenting an opportunity to build life and social skills that are needed to enhance the client’s life. This is accomplished by the therapist incorporating tools to help the client, such as: non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking, problem solving, leadership, taking responsibility, team work, relationship building, confidence building, and attitude improving.
Previous equine experience is NOT required to participate in these sessions. Whether you've been around horses your entire life or have never stepped foot on a farm, The Grassy Ranch will help you on your journey to living a life worth living.
